District-in-Charge Minister Eshwarappa had visited the areas where land slides occurred last year and provided Rs 32 lakh to take precautionary measures. It is said that the wall collapsed due to low quality work. However, the loose mud from the wall has filled the areca plantation and paddy fields of Lakshmi Narayana Bhat.

The local residents have demanded an inquiry into the construction work and provide permanent solution for the land slides persisting in the region.

Areca grown on eight guntas of  land (1/40th of an acre) belonging to A M Chandrashekar  has been damaged due to land slide, at Asagodu Gram Panchayat in Koppa taluk. Over 150 areca trees have been lost in the calamity, when a 100 feet high hillock slipped into the plantation.

Chandrashekar is a farm worker and hails from backward community.
