Speaking after formally joining the JD(S) in the presence of party chief H D Deve Gowda, he said he took voluntary retirement from service because of the disgusting working environment. Several other officers were also suffering in the same manner, Subramanya said.

“The JD(S) is the only party that has concern for the rural people. Besides, the pro-people programmes initiated by Kumaraswamy when he was the chief minister influenced me to join the party,” he said.

Gowda said many honest and efficient IAS and IPS officers had resigned after the BJP came to power. The officers were being treated nastily, he added.

Of the nine States where the BJP was in power, the Yeddyurappa government in Karnataka was the most corrupt. “There is a complete collapse of administration in the State and Yeddyurappa is directly responsible for it,” he said.

He also charged the chief minister with hiring legal experts to protect himself from several allegations of irregularities and corruption through devious means.
