Dikshit has described the report as a "product of paranoia". A BJP leader also demanded the resignation of Dikshit over her indictment by the Shunglu panel.  BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said Wednesday the Shunglu panel report was based on investigations. "Instead of passing a judgement on the contents of the report, the government should reply to the charges," Sitharaman told IANS.

She said the BJP has already demanded that all cases related to the CWG be brought under a single umbrella immediately and a time set for action. The party Tuesday said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi owe an answer on the open defiance of the chief minister, who belongs to the Congress.

Delhi BJP vice-president Vijay Jolly Wednesday demanded the resignation of Dikshit, and said she needed to go as she had been indicted by the Shunglu Committee for corruption and diversion of funds during last year's Commonwealth Games in Delhi.  The BJP said the Shunglu Committee has held the Delhi government responsible for delay in the Games works leading to "collusive/partial bidding" and "manipulation of documents".

The Shunglu panel, set up on the directions of the prime minister last year, was tasked to probe the alleged misappropriation of funds, delay in projects, irregularities and corruption in purchases related to the Games, besides other wrongdoing.

The Delhi government Tuesday said that the report was "not just full of contradictions and anomalies but had caused damage to the image of the government and political executives".

It said the high-level committee report on the city infrastructure "seems to be the product of paranoia, suspecting every action, every individual and assumes that every policy bespoke of a 'grand construct of corruption'."
