Telecast of court hearings sought

The KSBC  decided during its meeting held on July 19, to submit a proposal to this effect to the Centre and the Chief Justice of India.

Bar Council Chairman told reporters that the resolution, a first of its kind, is significant for clients, junior advocates and common man to know the modalities of the functioning of the higher courts.

He said that he will request the other Bars across the Country to adopt similar resolution and also request the Bar Council of India (BCI) to withdraw the amendment made in this direction.

5-day working
The Bar Council has also decided to request the Chief Justice to direct the working of trial court, for five days a week, as has been done for the High Court.

 “This will enable advocates to discharge their duties efficiently and promptly,” stated Khan.
The State Bar Council has also requested the Bar Council of India to withdraw amendment imposing restrictions on the age limit to  pursue law studies.

 On the proposed amendment to introduce service tax by the Union Government, the Council  has decided to request the government to  drop the idea stating that this profession is not profit-oriented.
