During his confession in the special court on Monday, Kasab claimed that he did not fire a single bullet after exiting from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), where 52 people had already been killed by him and his accomplice Abu Ismail.

Kasab did not hide his role in the CST, as many witnesses had actually seen him firing and had deposed in the court accordingly.

The CCTV footages as well as press photos too have nailed Kasab.

What is unclear is his role after stepping outside the CST. Kasab has squarely blamed Ismail for all the firing and killings at Cama Hospital, in the lane, and at Girgaum chowpatti. He also blamed Ismail for the killing of Tukaram Ombale at Chowpatti.

So far, the police accounts of the incident have stated that Ombale grabbed Kasab while taking several bullets in his abdomen and died of those wounds.

Kasab, however, claimed in his confession that it was Ismail who fired at Ombale. The killing of Karkare, Kamte and Salaskar was obviously done by Ismail, the accused stated in his confession.

During his confessions on Monday and Tuesday, Kasab did not name LeT’s chief Hafeez Saeed, whom India suspects masterminded the attack.

Saeed was put under house arrest by the Pakistani government early this year bowing to international pressure, but he was allowed to walk free two months ago.

Throughout his confession, Kasab kept naming his associate Ismail and his handlers, who gave detailed instructions, maps, weapons and other equipment to the 10-member group that carried out the terror attacks.
