Strokes on canvas

Kynkyny Art presents ‘POP!’, an exhibition by American artist Jon DenHartigh, at 104 Embassy Square, above Ganjam Jewellers, 148 Infantry Road from April 9.

 DenHartigh pays tribute to the classic Indian Ambassador, Royal Enfield, truck and autorickshaw through his canvas.

His current work retools the idea of mass production and transportation.

Short stories on stage

Version One Dot Oh, along with Rhythmotion Dance Company and Syrinx, is organising ‘Chimeras’, an adaptation of three short stories namely ‘And What has been Decided?’, ‘The Last Enemy’ and ‘Hear me, Sanjaya!’ written by Shashi Deshpande on April 9, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm at Alliance Francaise.

The play reflects the characters of Draupadi, Duryodhana and Kunti respectively. Chimeras blends together theatre and various forms of dance like Bharathanatyam, Kalari, Chau, and Indian contemporary to bring to stage an exciting interpretation of these characters from Mahabharata.  For details, call 8095695052.

‘Ramanavami’ celebrations

SOULFUL K J YesudasSree Ramaseva Mandali’s ‘73rd Sree Ugadi-Ramanavami Celebrations’ and ‘Sree Ramanavami National Music Festival’ is on at the Fort High School Grounds, Chamarajpet.
The festival will feature a vocal recital by Niranjana Srinivasan and party on April 9, 5.15 pm and Carnatic and Hindustani Jugalbandhi by Mysore Manjunath, Purbayan
Chaterji, Tiruvarur Bhakthavatsalam, Vishwanath Nakod, on the same day at 6.30 pm.

Mambalam M K S Shiva and party will perform a Nadaswaram recital on
April 10, 8 am followed by S V Narayanaswamy Rao’s National award function at 10.30 am.

K J Yesudas, S R Mahadeva Sharma, Tiruvarur Bhakthavatsalam, T Radhakrishnan will perform on the same day at 6.30 pm.

Bharatanatyam ‘Rangapravesha’ 

Gagana Badrinath, a disciple of M R Krishnamurthy will be performing her Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha on April 10, 6 pm at JSS College Auditorium, Jayanagar. Gagana has completed the junior, senior dance examinations and junior music examination. She has been an integral part of several dance ballets, including the Ramanavami and Dasara celebrations.

For a cause

IISc's ‘Kamnaughtyka’ and ‘Header and Footer Club’ is organising a musical evening on April 9, 6 pm at IISC’s Satish Dhawan Auditorium. Entry is free. All the contributions will go toward The Shankara Foundation.

Blast from the past

Madan MohanRotary Bangalore Indiranagar is organising a charity fund raising event ‘Eternal — Madan Mohan’ on April 10, 6 pm at Jyoti Nivas College Auditorium The programme will have a mix of retro Hindi songs and compositions of the late Madan Mohan.

Ajay Madan’s musical troupe, comprising singers Gaurav Bangia, Yaseen, Divya Raghavan and Rithisha will sing on the occasion. The proceeds of this concert will go toward the community service projects of Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar. For details, call 9845119863.

Aradhana School of Dance is organising a Bharatnatyam Rangapravesha of Shruti Srinivasan on April 10, 6.30 pm at Ravindra Kalashetra, J C Road. Shruti has been trained under Nagabhushan.
