City gears up for 'Bus Day' today

This concept is said to have gained popularity in Bangalore. The idea of launching scheme in the heritage city was to make citizens use public transport instead of individual vehicles as it would cut the bill on import of petroleum products. Transport Minister R Ashoka who wll launch this programme on Saturday, would travel from Central Bus Stand to Kuvempunagar where he would inaugurate the new bus stand. The KSRTC will operate additional buses from the Central Bus Stand to KRS, Hebbal via Infosys, Kuvempunagar and also J P Nagar.
A lot of organisations are pinning hope that this programme would gain popularity in a bid to save the city from all kinds of pollution.
