Lathi-charged protesters hit back at police

Police resorted to lathi-charge when the protesters tried to stop a vehicle bound for Hyderabad, it is learnt, injuring many protesters including women and aged persons.
Enraged, the protesters threw stones at police personnel injuring seven policemen, including Market Station Sub-Inspector Ali Sab.

The protesters, from Gunnalli, were  protesting against the Forest Department stopping work on asphalting of the road from Shahapur Gate to their village.

The protesters led by Karnataka Tigers Struggle Committee, began their protest in the morning, blocking traffic on the Bidar-Zaheerbad road.

Efforts by Assistant Commissioner Khushbu Goyal to persuade them to give up their failed, and the police lathi-charged the demonstrators.
