Among the crowd were office-goers and students who lauded Hazare’s efforts to bring the Jan Lokpal Bill as a way of eliminating corruption.

“This 73-year old man is on fast-unto-death not for himself but for all of us, for people like me and you; he is fighting against corruption and that is why I and my friends have come here to do our bit,” Prashant Patil, a public sector bank employee, said.

He was with five or six of his bank colleagues, who were shouting pro-Hazare slogans and demanding Lok Pal bill as framed by the social worker.

“We know him, he is from Maharashtra. He is a great person, it is because of him that we have got RTI (Right to Information Act) and now we will get Lok Pal thanks to his movement,” Prashant’s colleague Rishikesh Joshi said.

The crowd was overflowing and many of them carried candles in expression of support to Anna Hazare.

There were also senior citizens from the posh Colaba area who hardly come out on voting day. When asked why are they here, one of the lady said she was all support to Anna in his fight against corruption.

Votes hardly count

But when asked why the people of Colaba are hardly seen on a voting day, she said their votes hardly count as politicians get slum dwellers in large number to vote, even by bribing them with money.

While people demonstrated at Gateway of India to express their support to Hazare, hundreds others visited Azad Maidan opposite Chhatapati Shivaji Terminus, where a small group of activists are on fast for the fourth consecutive day.

Among them are lecturers, doctors, entrepreneurs, office goers, young students, IT professionals and housewives. All of them are united in one strong desire - to bring an end to corruption.

But not many seem to know how Lokpal bill will end corruption.
