As the lines will be changed, the pumping station may be shut down for one-and-half-hour on Monday, said a BWSSB official.

He said one of the power poles is located inside the ground water reservoir site which needs to be shifted, Work related to shifting of pole will be carried out in the next two months, he added. Once the power lines are shifted, there will be no power disruption in pumping water and supplying it to the City.

Private water tankers

The RTO has replied to BWSSB’s letter seeking information about the number of water tankers in the City and has stated that on an average, there are around 700 private water tankers supplying water.

Despite BWSSB’s effort in supplying water free of cost using 126 tankers across the City, it has failed to fulfil the demand. It is now planning to hire all the tankers in the City and come up with a comprehensive plan in distribution of water to parched areas.
