Calling it a blend of two religion, cricket and movies, the CCL launched the team logo and song of ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’, the celebrity cricket team representing Karnataka, on Thursday.

Brand ambassadors ‘Rebel Star’ Ambareesh and Madhuri Bhattacharya were present along with the team members. Both of them were very confident about the team bringing home the cup.

“The name ‘Bulldozers’ itself suggests how we are going to bulldoze ourselves to the top,” said Ambareesh. After seeing the recent test match at Vishakhapatnam, team owner, Ashok Kheny was very impressed by the actors’ performance on the field. “The league is not only about getting actors to play cricket.

In fact, it’s for a good cause, where a part of the proceeds, is going for the support of children with special needs. I was so proud to see our vice captain, Dhruva, who is deaf and dumb, do well on the field that we decided to dedicate our first match to children with special needs,” he added.

Lending their support to the team were actresses Aindrita Ray, Sharmila Mandre, Pooja Gandhi and Sanjjana. Not only were they excited for the boys but were also positive about them bringing the trophy home. “It’s going to be a fun match and a good break from our regular acting schedules,” said Sanjjana.

The man of the moment, Sudeep, the captain of ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’ introduced his team and said that the selection for this year’s team was purely on the way the actors performed during the test match that was held in Davanagere and not on any popularity basis. “After the match in Davangere, we realised the tremendous talent we have here.

We have all been practising really hard and hopefully it will pay off on the match day,” he said. The team has actors like Shivarajkumar, Diganth, Chiranjeevi Sarja, Tharun Chandra, Avinash, Abhimanyu and others, which is a balance of both young and experienced.

Said Dhruva, “There are so many actors in the team whom I have looked upto and now I am getting a chance to play cricket with them. It is going to be fun. I am also looking forward to interacting and playing with actors like Salman Khan, Suriya, Venkatesh and other big stars. There is a mix of nervousness and excitement in the air,” he added.

The first match will be held between ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’ and ‘Mumbai Heroes’ on June 4 in Bangalore.
