The bill has also sought to increase the BBMP wards to 200.
Besides, the Karnataka Panchayat Act and Another Act (Amendment) bill, 2009 was also tabled. It seeks to allow use of Electronic Voting Machines in urban local bodies and panchayat elections. By bringing this amendment, the Government is planning to ensure that EVMs are used in the coming BBMP elections. The Governor has already promulgated an ordinance on both bills.
