Suvarana bhoomi to benefit 38,977 ryots

Farmers, who own less than five acres of dry land, are eligible. This scheme was not for ryots having borewells, open wells and other irrigation facilities.  Those selected under this scheme are not entitled for any other schemes of the government.

Addressing a press conference, Deputy Commissioner Dr P C Jaffer ruled out the role of middlemen in the selection of beneficiaries and said application forms are available at all the Raitha Samparaka Kendra and office of Agriculture Department. The district administration wants to select 38,977 farmers, 5568 will be selected from the taluks of Mandya, Maddur, Pandavapur, Nagamangala; 5,569 from  K R Pet taluk and 5,567 ryots from Srirangapatna taluk. They will be given ` 5,000 as first installment out of which they should grow horticultural crops such mango, grapes, pomegranate, pineapple and chiku.
