Last Updated 18 April 2011, 16:27 IST

Addressing a news conference, he claimed that M/s Jindal Steels (JSW) which is purchasing iron ore form the State had allegedly paid ` 27 crore bribe to Prerana Trust owned by family members of chief minister. The government should make it public the money received by the trust from other steel factories and mining barons. The Central Empower Committee (CEC) appointed by the Supreme Court came out with a report stating that the State suffered ` 15,000 crore loss due to export of iron ore illegally and exploitation of forest resources in the State.

At that time, forest portfolio was with Yeddyurappa. The CM should tender resignation following his inability to check illegal mining in the State. Besides, the CM had made a statement in the Legislative Assembly regarding the export 3.5 lakh tonnes of iron ore from the State. Besides, he had promised action on the guilty. But, so far, no action has been initiated on the ministers who own mines in Bellary district.

He urged government to refer illegal mining scam to the CBI probe.

Complaint against VC

Former minister H D Revanna threatened to file a complaint with Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj  against Vice-chancellor of University of Mysore, Prof V G Talawar, for his ‘irresponsible’ attitude.

He said the Government has given permission to start M Com course at Government First Grade College in Holenarasipur from the academic year 2010-11, but the VC was yet to give approval.

Prof Talawar was not available on telephone. The JD(S) would hold a protest in front of the university if the VC failed to clear the file at the earliest.
