'Don't fight over trivial issues'

Teachers angry over dropping the names of their representatives in the invitation

He was speaking after inaugurating the district-level Government Employees Sports Meet at Visvesvaraya Stadium here on Thursday.

The number of people taking part in the sports events is decreasing rapidly, noted Prakash who urged the government employees to work in this direction.

The development of the district will be severely hampered if the employees agitated over minor issues, he added.

Government employees should give up the practice of mixing politics in every event, suggested Zilla Panchayat President M Srinivasan who said that there was a different platform for politics and employees should remain united.

The employees should also behave in a dignified manner, he added.

Vice President of the Government Employees Union L A Manjunath spoke on the occasion. CMC member Prakash, District Primary Schools Teachers Union’s President Anil Kumar, General Secretary Venkatshivappa, Pallavimani and others were present on the occasion. Govindraju and team lit the torch light.

Vice President of the Government Employees Union’s district unit M Rangappa has clarified that he was only trying to pacify some teachers who were enraged over the dropping of the names of their representatives from invitation and was trying to protect the officials of Youth Affairs and Sports Department. I have not assaulted any one, he added.

Rangappa said that some of the teachers were verbally abusing the Department officials and even tried to attack the officials.

It was under such circumstance and I and the Union’s office bearers tried to protect the sportspersons, he added.
