A darshini style open-kitchen eatery, Bisi Bisi Veg, located opposite Miranda School, Jeevan Bhima Nagar Main Road is living up to its name.

It offers North Karnataka cuisine, which is prepared fresh and served hot.The locality, where the eatery is situated, didn’t have a good North Karnataka style hotel before Bisi Bisi Veg opened.

But, the owners of this hotel were a little uncertain about its success as the locality has large number of people from other states.

“The speciality of our cuisine is that if a person tastes the food here once, he feels like having it again and again. While opening this hotel, the challenge was
introducing our cuisine to people of this locality. But, as soon as we opened this eatery, people started pouring in. Now most of our customers are from other states. During lunch time, the customers are mainly IT employees. Families come in during the evening and most of them prefer take-aways,” says Timmanna, the owner of the food joint.

The eatery opens at 8 am and serves idli vada, avalakki, upma and a rice item for breakfast. For lunch, one can order, jolada roti meals and bele holige meals.

They prepare different accompaniments like brinjal ennegai, kaalu palya and green leaves palya. Evening snacks include mandakki, bajji and different types of holige. The service is available till 10 in the night. Though there is no seating facility at the food joint, it bustles with crowd during lunch hours. These apart, authentic North Karnataka snacks, chutney powder, pickles, khadak roti, and different sweets like antinunde, khardantu, shenga holige are available here.

“I was introduced to North Karnataka cuisine by one of my colleagues who is from Belgaum. Coming from Delhi, It was difficult for me get adjusted to the South Indian food, which is dominated by rice items. But I find North Karnataka food similar to our food. I like the jolada roti here. And they use less oil which is good for health,” says Shaminder Gupta, a professional.

Another speciality of this place is, holige which is available hot in the afternoons and evenings. For details, call Timmanna on 9448261201.
