Pawan Raj took six for 27 to send Gymkhana crashing to 121 all out, and Vijaya built on it substantially to make 260, a lead of 139. That’s when the match turned, half-centuries from Melu Kranth Kumar (63) and Prashanth Gangadhar (52) helping Gymkhana post 289 despite Naveen Patil’s five for 80 and Pawan’s three for 77, which gave him match figures of nine for 104.

Set 151 for victory, Vijaya were destroyed by Fareed, who followed up first-innings exploits of four for 35 with five for 41 and match figures of nine for 76. Vijaya crashed to 66 all out to slump to an embarrassing defeat.
