Murali has been playing with jersey number ‘800’ inscribed on his back ever since Chennai Super Kings’ Champions League campaign in South Africa last year after retiring with world record 800 Test wickets. He wears the number 800 for Kochi Tuskers Kerala as well.
On Friday, Gayle was seen wearing jersey number ‘333’ during his first match for Royal Challengers Bangalore against KKR which is equally significant as this is his highest Test score which he achieved against the Sri Lankans in Galle last year.
During the recently concluded World Cup, Gayle used to wear jersey number 45 while Murali wore number 8. Not many Indian cricketers have shown interest for experimenting with their jersey numbers.
