The foul weather did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the metal fans, who stood under large blue sheets, undeterred by the hard rain. The concert began with some of the Indian metal bands taking centre stage. Of all the Indian bands that performed, ‘Inner Sanctum’ lived up to its expectations and the audience reacted to each one of their songs well.

‘Cradle of Filth’ however got on to the stage much later on in the evening. They gave the crowds some of their popular numbers like ‘Honey and Sulphur’, ‘Her Ghost in the Fog’ and ‘Ebony Dressed for Sunset’. However, they garnered the largest response from the crowd with their hit song, ‘Nymphetamine (fix)’. The video clips of the songs in the background, together with the brooding dull weather, enhanced their performance. Dani Filth addressing the crowd, and reacting to the bad  weather, said, “We English brought our weather with us.”

The band members, commenting on the Indian metal scene said, “The time is right for an Indian metal band to enter the scene. If a band is original, true and exciting, it will find its weight to the surface.”

Rancho, a fan, who was seen at the venue despite the rain, said, “I am a huge fan and I wouldn’t miss this for the world.” The large number of fans at the venue was a clear indication of the dedication of Bangaloreans towards metal. Brojen Singha, a former musician, on the difficulties he faced at getting to the venue, said, “The tickets didn’t mention where in Palace Grounds the concert was being held. So I went all the way to the Mekhri Circle entrance where I found out about the other entrance. Luckily for me, there were many like me and I got to this venue only following the black shirts around.

The opening acts were on time, but the main act took a long time to get started. The organisers were aware of the rains and they could have gotten them on stage a little earlier. The whole concert could have been organised better.”
