MSIL nets Rs 8 crore profit

Disclosing this to reporters here on Monday, MSIL Chairman Vikram Patil said the diversification of activities and cost-cutting measures had yielded desired results. The company has registered an enormous growth in retail liquor trade business by achieving a turnover of Rs 400 crore through its 215 retail liquor outlets across the State. It plans to open 463 wine shops.

Patil said the company continues to occupy the number one slot in the business of exercise notebooks having a market share of about 90 per cent. Although business slackened last year, it is expected to pick up this year with a a turnover of Rs 50 crore. He said MSIL wants to set up chit fund centres in all districts and is expecting a turnover of Rs 100 crore in the current year, up  from Rs 45 crore in 2010-11. The package tours of MSIL will also be extended to foreign contries by entering into a tie-up with foreign travel  companies.
