2.5 ganja seized, 3 held in Manipal

 
Police arrested the trio for selling ganja to students in Manipal, on Friday. Two cars too have been seized from them.  DH photoSpeaking to the mediapersons on Friday, Udupi SP Prawin Pawar said the arrested are Nithaynada (34) from Saralabettu, Sunil Sherigar (34) from Aleevoor and Imthiaz (27) from Kukkikatte.

The interrogation of the accused provided valuable details on the mobile suppliers of ganja to the students of Manipal. The staffs of the squad were sent as buyers to trap the accused.  The value of the seized ganja and the vehicles are around Rs 8 lakh.
Manipal, a well known education center, having students from all over the world, were enticed by these ganja peddlers over the last one decade. Though cases were booked, on many occasions these culprits were found using innovative methods to distribute ganja sachets to the students, Pawar informed.

He said as a matter of concern and responsibility, he has drawn a plan to identify the addicted students individually and rehabilitate them by holding counselling.
