Officials asked to use Kannada in admn

He gave this instruction while inaugurating a workshop on “Kannada as the language of administration” organised by Kannada and Culture Department for the officials and personnel of various departments.

“The use of Kannada in administration is in progress in the district. However, some departments are still using English on some occasions. They should use Kannada in all cases,” he suggested.

Though the government has published dictionary and office booklet to make some difficult words easier, the officials are not making use of them, he said. “A language cannot be developed without using it. It is necessary to conduct administration in the language of the people. Sufficient precautions should be taken to see that the district of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu does not lag behind in using Kannada,” the DC said.

Deputy Director of Public Instructions Mantelingachar said it is necessary to use simple language in administration so that the laymen too understands it easily.

City Municipal Council Vice President Kasture S Pawar presided. Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Made Gowda, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr K B Eshwarappa, Muncipal Commissioner B Chandrappa, District Information Officer D Narasimhamurthy were present.
