Housing minister V Somanna will be contesting from Govindarajanagar, while Valmiki Nayak is the candidate from Chittapur and G N Nanjundaswamy and C P Yogeeshwara are the contestants from Kollegal and Channapatna, respectively. Somanna, who hopped to the BJP from the Congress will be recontesting from Govindarajanagar.

Valmiki Nayak unsuccessfully contested the 2008 Assembly polls against Mallikarjun Kharge of Congress, from Chittapur.

Shortlisted
G N Nanjundaswamy and A N Krishnamurthy were shortlisted as candidates for Kollegal constituency. Krishnamurthy, though lost the 2008 Assembly elections, had ensured that the party secured lead in Kollegal Assembly segment during the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

However, the party this time has decided to give an opportunity to Nanjundaswamy, a former legislator from the constituency.

C P Yogeeshwara is the BJP candidate from Channapatna. He had won the 2008 Assembly polls on Congress ticket by a margin of 4,930 votes.
The list was finalised by the party’s Central Parliamentary Board on Friday. The candidate for the Ramanagara Assembly seat will be finalised shortly, sources added.

Office ransacked
Meanwhile, a group of people, said to be supporters of G Ramakrishna, a ticket aspirant from Chittapur, ransacked the district BJP office over denial of ticket to their leader.
They broke open the doors and smashed window panes before setting chairs on fire. Ramakrishna, a senior Congress leader crossed over to BJP on the eve of Assembly elections last year.

A few persons have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
