Ten killed in fire in Delhi factory

The blaze erupted at the unit in Udyog Nagar of Peeragarhi at around 7 pm yesterday and 50 fire tenders were rushed to douse the flames, they said.

It took almost 12 hours for the firefighters to douse the flames."Ten bodies were recovered from the debris," the official said. Several others are feared trapped in the debris of the three-storied factory.

The fire, which began at around 7 pm last night, could be controlled only around 7.30 am this morning, fire brigade officials said.

A senior police official said the identity of the bodies are yet to be ascertained and that the fire brigade team was still at the site.Sources said some 60 people were inside the factory when the fire broke out.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
