Stating that the entire team of Infosys would work towards the company’s strategy and functioning, taking it forwarding and serving the clients better, Kamath said, the company, which has been built on a firm foundation and outstanding leadership, was today in an enviable position.Expressing confidence in the company he was going to be at the helm, the 63-year-old former head of ICICI Bank, said though he will be getting into the shoes of N R Narayana Murthy, it would, however, be impossible for anyone to replace Murthy, given his work and the way in which he (Murthy) built the company on a firm foundation and chalked its way to singular success.

In this regard, Kamath noted that a company must be built on strong values such as leadership, integrity, ethics, governance and intellect and Infosys has indeed scaled great heights as an organisation under Murthy’s leadership, adding that he has been mentored by the latter since last 15-16 years.

Effusive in his praise of his predecessor’s contribution to Infosys’ growth, Kamath said “I have known Murthy for 41 years. In the last thirty years, I could only watch with admiration, how this company was built as a shining star in an emerging India. It epitomised the spirit of a new India.”

Quoting an anecdote, Kamath said, "I learned discipline, empowerment, and recognition from him. If these qualities are combined, you can get consistent replicable quality, which is essential for any organisation and it helps build value."

Further, he pointed out, that at the AGM in June, the names of three new directors to executive board would be announced.

Infosys Chief Operating Office S D Shibulal, who was anointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, said the company envisioned that it becomes next generation global consulting corporation. He said that every organisation must transform itself to remain relevant to its stake holders.
