Coming into the final following a stunning run of form that saw him win seven matches on a trot losing just five frames in the process, the Asian Games snooker silver medalist was fancied to lift the continental crown but sadly ran short of ammunition in the crucial title clash at the Yeshwant Club.

Passakorn, who stunned the home crowd on Friday when he scored a fine come-from-behind victory over seven-time world champion Pankaj Advani, played party-popper once again, defeating Mehta 60-41, 0-77, 76-20, 59-58, 69-66, 24-87, 83-13, 72-61 for an impressive victory.

Result: Passakorn Suwannawat (Tha) bt Aditya Mehta (Ind) 6-2 (60-41, 0-77, 76-20, 59-58, 69-66, 24-87, 83-13, 72-61).
