Rly cleaning staff kills self

The deceased has been identified as Gulam Jilani (40) son of late Moinuddin.

A native of Uttar Pradesh, he was a small time vendor. He had married a woman in Chikmagalur a decade ago. Recently, the family shifted to Mysore and was living with his sister-in-law’s family in Kesare here. He had thrown himself under the wheels of Mysore- Shimoga intercity train, in the railway station. He along with his wife was working as labourers, in a private firm that had bagged the contract of cleaning at the railway station.

His identity was traced with the help of ID card found on the body.

According to his wife, he left for Chikmagalur citing some work and she herself had dropped him at the railway station on Friday night. He had also bought a ticket for Kadur.

He may have taken the extreme step owing to acute stomach ache, she added.
Railway police have registered a case.
