Cool and casual
Allen Solly has always focussed on formal clothing. In the recent years though, they have introduced their denim jeans and T-shirt collection.
So why casuaIs? Designer Vicky Bamrah explains that the T-shirts and denims are meant primarily for the young crowd.
“These clothes are for the people between 18 and 35 years of age. Today, with the work environment getting more casual and comfortable, these clothes can be used regularly at workplace,” she says.
This summer is about a clean palette and an uncomplicated, honest style as far as men are concerned.
“The T-shirts should be ultra-simple yet aesthetically appealing. But the combination of the T-shirt and denim depends on an individual’s style and can’t be defined as such,” she says.
She explains how one can go about choosing what looks good on people of different body structures.
“There is a combination of red and white, or navy blue and white stripes which can be worn with blue denims. These T-shirts will look good on men of skinnier frames as the stripes would make them look broader,” says Vicki.
On the other hand, people with a broad frame can experiment with colours.
“The solid colours like black and dark blue, would look good on someone with a broad frame,” informs Vicky. She also adds that the graphic print T-shirts are another great option for men.
On the whole, the palette for this season is bright and summery. Women can go for a range of colours while choosing the tops as well as the jeans.
“The T-shirts are available in blazing yellows, corals, teals, greys jewel greens, ecrublues, turquoise among other shades,” she says.
When it comes to styling the looks, Vicki says that too much should be avoided.
“Layering up the T-shirt is not really in since it is the summer season right now. One can experiment with plain accessories depending on your own style,” she says. White colour is also in fashion.
“There are also long and short white T-shirts, both sleeveless and mid-arm length, depending on one’s comfort level,” she adds.
The denim, which can be worn along with the T-shirts, come in a variety of fits like slim leg jeans, straight leg jeans, over dyed ankle-length jeans, capris, bleached denims, harem pants with pleats and jeggings.
Jeggings are a combination of leggings and denims, and can be paired with T-shirts, tube-tops and spaghetti tops.
“Jeggings are also a very popular option for women and can be worn in a number of colours including indigo, silver-grey, black, white, red and others,” says Vicky.
Vicky says that pairing these outfits with wedges, heels and even ‘Roman slippers’ gives a really cool look. Ice blue slim jeans with a braided belt is another hot look that the women can go for this summer.
The look is ideal for any casual occasion and sporty outdoor fun.
