Mumbai fielding full side even after play-offs berth: Pollock

"Confidence is important and you want to keep confidence and momentum going. We are in a good position but that doesn't mean you have to make changes. In this format of the game you take nothing for granted," Pollock said when asked if his side will rest senior players for tomorrow's game as they have already booked a berth in the play-offs.

"We have got to keep the momentum going and maintain those high standards. At some stage it tends to look easy and then there is a slip. It's an important game for us, every game is an important one," said Pollock at the match-eve press conference.

Sachin Tendulkar-led Mumbai Indians are on top of IPL table with 16 points from 10 matches.

Pollock refused to disclose the team composition for tomorrow, saying that the team management will decide on this later.

On Tendulkar not participating in today's practice session though he had come to the PCA stadium, Pollock said there was nothing unusual about it and there was no worry about the champion batsman.

"From practice perspective, Sachin has been involved (playing cricket) for 3-4 months now and not having one net practice doesn't make much of a difference. Sometimes rest is better than having time in the nets and on the field…he will be ready for us tomorrow," said the South African.

He said that there was a six-day break coming up ahead in between their matches should be a "decent period" to assess the team's progress and further planning.
Pollock rated Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga as the team's "trump card".

"I think he would (instill fear). He has got quite a lethal yorker delivery. You may be a young Indian player, but you still got to deal with it.

"Malinga has got plenty of variations. He can bowl a decent bouncer and he also has the slow bowl which he uses very well. He's got that kind of action which you don’t come across every day. It's difficult to prepare for it, he has shown how lethal and accurate he can be," said Pollock, who also recalled himself having fallen victim to Malinga in the 2007 World Cup in West Indies.

"Malinga is a wicket taker and so is Bhajji while Munaf (Patel) has performed well. Young guys like Abu (Nechim) and Dhawal have performed well when given an opportunity. Overall, we have got a good balance," he said.

Pollock praised Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard and Ambati Rayudu for lending strength to the team batting department "with Sachin being very good at the top of the order".
"Even the young guys like Davy Jacobs, Blizzard have given the team fast starts," he said.

Asked his views on having a day-night Test cricket, Pollock said it will help bring back crowds to Test cricket and people coming back from work can watch 3-4 hours of good cricket.

"It is definitely worth a try," he said.
He, however, said that it should be avoided at venues where heavy dew falls.
