Addressing the reporters, Dr Gowda said that he would not want to make his position seem like a ‘white collar’ job. “I would want to meet people all the time barring the time set aside for DC court and meetings,” said Dr Gowda adding that Government officials should mandatorily be people-friendly.

He said that clearance of files at the earliest and extending better services to the rural masses will be his priority.

With regard to illegal sand mining, he said that  he is determined to take action against such activity within the legal framework.

“Some people have moved to the court over the new mining policy. Government has issued a direction that the license holder should be allowed to carry on mining till June. I will stick to this till the next order comes from the Government,” said the DC.

Solving traffic problems, complete ban on plastic, expansion of traffic circles, taking up more road concrete works, action against illegal construction are some of the points the new DC wants to concentrate.

Dr Gowda joined the Karnataka Administrative Service in 1982. He has served as the DC of Mysore, Uttar Kannada, Chikmagalur. He had been the Director of Food and Civil Supplies and Social Welfare Department. He had worked as the CEO of Mysore and Bangalore (city).
