Gold jewellery goes missing from bank

A case against branch manager S M Tangadgi has been registered with the Tilakwadi police.
General Manager Shivanand Tubchi said, it came to notice that gold ornaments weighing over 2.669 kilogram.

A complaint has been filed against branch manager Tangadgi.

‘No forceful entry’

Ornaments pledged for loans had been kept in the lockers in the branch premises. The keys of the lockers were with the branch manager, he added.

Belgaum Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil visited the bank premises on Tuesday and verified the lockers where the gold ornaments were kept.

He said, there were no signs of forceful entry in the bank premises and outsiders also do not have access to the lockers. The branch has four members staff and keys of the lockers were with the manager and cashier, it is learnt.

Though the incident took place a month ago complaint has been filed only now and those responsible for the ornaments going missing will be traced, he added.
