Man held for firing at his father

Muniraju (35) used to quarrel with his father Muniyappa frequently. On May 10, in a fit of rage, he had shot at his father after a bitter quarrel.

Though Muniyappa had not lodged any complaint against his son, the Rural police took up an investigation on the basis of the statement given by the former at the hospital. Muniraju was absconding after the incident and a special team was constituted to nab him.

Superintendent of Police Dr K Tyagarajan that said no documents were available relating to the rifle in question and a probe was on. Police sub-inspector P N Ganesh, constables Kaviraj, Anand, Ravikumar and Ravishankar took part in the operation to nab Muniraju.

The SP has declared cash reward to the team.

Minor girl raped

An incident kidnap and rape of a minor girl has come to light in Harjenahalli of Kolar taluk. Santosh (24) a resident Harjenahalli had allegedly kidnapped a girl of the same village and raped her. The victim has since been traced. Santosh has been arrested, police said.
Policeman assaulted

A policeman on duty has been assaulted in the City recently. Nagaraj, a police sub-inspector asked a motorcyclist to stop his vehicle. However, the rider did not stop and the police officer gave chase and caught up with him. According to police, the motorcyclist assaulted Nagaraj. The rider has been remanded in judicial custody.

House burgled

Burglars decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 20,000 from a house in Adarsh Nagar of Malur on Monday night. House owner Rajanna and his family had been to Bangalore when the theft occurred, police said. A case has been registered.

Cow thieves nabbed

Malur police have arrested two men on the charge of stealing cows. Channarayappa and Muneer had allegedly stolen a cow tethered in front of the house of Moulana, a resident of Mutton Market Road in the town, police said.
