Subhash Poojary, a truck driver, was killed by lightning at Yarlapady near Karkala in Udupi district. Five persons sustained injuries when lightning struck a house at Beliyur Katte in Puttur late on Tuesday  night.

The lightning damaged all electrical accessories and appliances in the house and the loss has been put at Rs 1.50 lakh.

Several arecanut trees, rubber trees were uprooted in Puttur, Kokkada, Nellyadi. Kadaba and received 78 mm rainfall. Power supply was disrupted the whole night as trees fell on electricity poles near Uppinangady and Subramanya. A tree fall in Alike, Mangalore disrupted movement of vehicles.

Sullia recorded the highest rainfall of 134.8 mm followed by Puttur 118.6 mm, Belthangady 75.2 mm, Bantwal 60 mm and Mangalore 19.8 mm.

Hundreds of arecanut, coconut trees, banana plants and  mango trees were uprooted at Chowlahiriyur at Kurubarahalli in Kadur (Chikkamagalur district) on Tuesday night. 

Power and water supply went haywire as more than 30 electricity poles were uprooted in the taluk. Strong winds blew up tiles of several houses.
