Cong misleading farmers: Mayawati

Last Updated 19 May 2011, 17:24 IST

UP Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh told the media that the preliminary report of the forensic laboratory about the examination of the ashes recovered from the Noida villages has clarified that there was no human remains in them. He also rubbished the allegations of rape of women at Bhatta-Parsaul.

“Such allegations in fact are humiliating to the women of the villages,”  Singh said.
Reading a statement of Mayawati, Singh asked the Congress to fight for the farmers in Jaitapur in Maharashtra and Orissa instead of  “wasting”  its energy in UP. Singh also refuted Sonia's allegations that Mayawati government had been creating hurdles in the way of the state's development.

“It is the Centre, which is meting out a step-motherly treatment to the state by not according approval to developmental projects” he alleged.

On the allegation that the state government was “grabbing” lands from the farmers, Singh asked the Congress chief to mention any specific incident and furnish evidence to  prove the claims.
