For the second consecutive day, a twin murder rocked the City on Monday.

A dozen criminals hacked to death a notorious rival and his henchman inside a gymnasium, while leaving another person grievously injured.

Police said the incident occurred around 6.15 am at Fitness World in front of Seshadripuram College at Kodigehalli. Ravi alias Bullet Ravi (30) of Kogilu in Yelahanka, his aide Srinivas (22) and Vasu (25) were inside the gym when the assailants, wielding firearms and sharp weapons, stormed and asked the proprietor for  Bullet Ravi. Before the latter could speak, one of them spotted  Ravi. The victims tried to flee, but the attackers threw chilli powder on their faces.

While Ravi and Srinivas were hacked to death, Vasu was grievously wounded. Leaving the trio in a pool of blood, the culprits fled. The victims were rushed to Columbia Asia Hospital, where Ravi and Srinivas were declared brought dead. Vasu is said to be battling for life.
Ravi’s family staged a protest at the hospital alleging doctors’ neglect leading to his death. Later, police restored peace.

Police sources said Ravi had many cases pending against him, including two murders, two attempts to murder and a robbery. Ravi had come out of jail on bail three months ago in connection with an attempt to murder. Preliminary investigation revealed that he had old rivalry with another gang led by Sunil Koranga. In Monday’s attack, Sunil, Shankar, Alesh and Gadde, along with others, were involved. The gang has gone underground. “We have formed three teams to trace the gang members, who belong to Devanahalli and other parts of Bangalore,” said Basavaraj Malagatti, DCP, North East.
