Joint panel to draft Lokpal Bill by June 30

 To speed up the drafting of the Lokpal Bill, the committee will meet more frequently and the next meeting has been fixed for next Monday.

Declaring consensus on half of the basic points, Human Resource Minister and member of the Joint Drafting Committee Kapil Sibal said there was consensus on half of the 40 points brought to the table by the Anna Hazare’s five-member team and the remaining points would be discussed in the May 30 meeting.

The meeting presided by Pranab Mukherjee took up the issue of speeding up the drafting process following a letter by committee’s co-chairman Shanti Bhushan. Sibal said the panel would meet once in a week.
