"As spokesperson of our security office announced, we received that kind of reports but they are not confirmed," Afghanistan's Minister for Information and Culture Sayeed Makhdoom Raheem today said.

The Afghan intelligence agency had yesterday said that Omar disappeared from a suspected hideout in Pakistan and has been out of contact with his commanders for days.

Raheem was talking to media after signing an MoU to strengthen ties in the field of broadcasting with Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni.

"This MoU will see us exchanging personnel...training capcity for sectors and stakeholders of information and broadcasting in both the countries," Soni told reporters.

She said the Minister also suggested that more Afghan students could be accommodated in Indian Institute of Mass Communication.

"We will welcome students from Afghanistan. We have a few but the Minister has expressed desire that more students should be accommodated in IIMC and we assured him that all facilities will be made available," she said.

Raheem also wanted Indian journalists to visit his country as part of the cooperation.
