Rahul Bose is one of the first few actors who was part of the independent film genre in India. The past few years have seen the actor in commercially viable projects also. An athlete, actor and an active voice for social causes, Rahul has much keeping him busy. In an interview with Metrolife, he speaks about his latest movie Kucch Luv Jaisaa, his fondness for romantic movies and his future projects.

Kucch Luv Jaisaa will see the actor portray the role of Raghav, a small time passport forger, who spends a day with a housewife. “Raghav is, what you say, an honest criminal. His philosophy in life is ‘everything is corrupt’ and he feels that he is at least doing his work sincerely,” says Rahul.

“The movie would be easily identified with women who feel that they are not treasured by their husbands or their children and are taken for granted,” he says. So is the movie a romantic comedy? “There is a lot of comedy in the movie but it is all unintentional comedy,” he says. The movie also stars Shefali Shah in the lead with whom Rahul had shared screen space in ‘15 Park Avenue’. “You know, we had completely forgotten that we had worked together. I mean we have known each other since long but it had not creatively contributed to this film at all,” he says.

With ‘Mr and Mrs Iyer’, ‘The Japanese wife’ and Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Rahul has created quite an impact with his choice of romantic films. So why is he not seen in more of them? “I am approached with a lot of rom-coms but they have to be written well for me to do them,” he says.

And what are his favourite films in this genre? “‘Notting Hill’, ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’, ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’,” he says. “I have actually read the ‘Bridget Jones’ books, which basically means I can no longer call myself a man,” he says laughing.

Rahul was seen, a few weeks back, in the movie ‘I AM’. “The movie was received well critically but not so much commercially. But Onir and Sanjay are very happy with the results,” he says.

His future projects include the movies ‘Travelling with Mohammed’ with Om Puri and Jeene Do. “Jeene Do is an intense love story and I would be giving away the story if I say who I am working with,” he says.

The actor would be coming to the City again for the Bangalore marathon next month. “I would be here for three days and since the ‘World Earth Day’ is around the same time, there is a great push this time around,” he says.
