Marital discord: HC comes to five-yr-old's rescue

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court passed the order on the petition by the girl moved through a local lawyer seeking its intervention in the marital dispute between her parents. Incidentally, one of the issues in the dispute also pertained to the custody of the child.

While the father of the girl, an engineer in the state PWD and posted at Shahajahanpur, wanted to keep her, the mother had pleaded that she would be able to bring her up in a better way and thus had sought her custody. None of them thought about the impact of their feud over the child and her studies.

The child, through a local lawyer, had filed a petition in the high court a few days back narrating her plight and had sought the help of the court in the matter.

The court sent notices to the girl’s father Mahaveer Singh and her mother Sudha Singh directing them to appear before it on Wednesday. Justice Srinarain Shukladirected that the girl be kept away from both of them. He also directed a reputed city-based school having boarding facilities to admit the child in an appropriate class.
