<p> The Minister in association with the forest department officials had inspected land for laying Daivi Vana on Friday. <br /><br />Reacting to the memorandum submitted by the citizens, the minister said “the land for ‘daivi vana’ has not been finalised. “We are just inspecting the spot. The decision will be taken only after holding discusssion with the local elected representatives including MLAs K G Bopaiah and Appachu Ranjan.” <br /><br />Balakrishna, Bharath, Chengappa, Narayanachar spoke on behalf of the villagers. <br />MLA Appachu Ranjan, Zilla Panchayat President Ravi Kushalappa, ZP member Rajarao, in-charge DC K M Chandre Gowda, ZP CEO N Krishnappa, Assistant Commissioner Dr M R Ravi, Tahsildar Sowmya Gowda, DCF Anand and others were present. <br /><br />Earlier, the minister visited Bhagandeshwari temple and offered special pooja. Speaking on the occasion, he said Ministry of Forests has come out with an ambitious plan of developing Daivi Vana (sacred forest) in all districts to not only increase the forest area but also create public awareness about the need for environmental protection. It was decided to lay Daivi Vana at Chamundi hills and Talacauvery. <br /><br />The work is likely to be started after June 15. He said Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had earmarked Rs 150 crore to the forest department in the budget. The fund will be utilised effectively.</p>
