Bangalore boy Raj finishes 12th

Bangalore-boy Bharath successfully finished the race under hot and humid conditions to brighten his chances of finishing among the top-10 in the remaining three rounds of the championship.

The 16-year-old was one of 15 participants, who drove the Formula JK Tyre Pacific, a 1.2 litre BMW-powered single-seater racing car. Bharath, after finishing 14th in the qualifying session for the third race, came up with a spirited display to clock 24:36:827.

The Indian driver received tough challenge from 13th placed Freddie Ang and Akash Nandy, who developed a technical problem in the 19th minute and was subsequently ruled out of the race.

“I wouldn’t say it was a bad race but still there is room for improvement. Finishing 12th after qualifying 14th, it just shows the level of competition. I will try to rectify my mistakes and try to secure a top-10 finish in the coming races,” Bharath said.

Lucas Auer claimed a brilliant pole to flag victory in round three. The young Austrian is the nephew of former Ferrari ace Gerhad Berger.
