Govt school students yet to get uniforms, bicycles

However, the government school kids are yet to get the uniforms and bicycles.  
According to sources, the students of government schools will have to wait for months to get uniforms and bicycles.

Uniforms need to be distributed to 91,427 students. The schools will reopen on Monday. But students will have to wait till July to get the uniforms, said an official on condition of anonymity.

As many as 12,577 students will have to get bicycles in the district. Cycles are likely to be distributed after two to three months. About 98 per cent of the textbooks have been distributed for students from first to tenth standard.

Taluk BEO Nagesh said the district will get bundle of uniforms in the first week of June. “As cycles were not distributed last year, this year students of eighth and ninth standard will get bicycles.” For the first time, free textbooks are distributed to the IX and X standard students of aided schools. Depending on the demand of the private schools, textbooks are sold to them by the department. However, the textbooks can not be sold for more than the prescribed price printed on the textbooks. If any one had taken more money, then they can complain to the education department, he added.

He said all the measures have been taken to distribute rice, dal, oil, LPG for the mid-day meals. Within two days of the reopening of the school, the mid-day meals will be started in schools.
