Wild jumbos destroy banana plants

The banana plantation belongs to Shivankaregowda of the village. He has grown the crop in his four acres of land. The jumbos said to be strayed out of Basavanbetta forest region which located nearby.

The villagers living in the fringes of forest region of the taluk demanded the government to find a permanent solution for elephant menace.

 They alleged the officials concerned neglecting to distribute compensation and turns blind eye to their complaint. They wanted to recruit more staff to the forest department for effective functioning of the department work.

In Sakleshpur

In another incident, a herd of nine elephants camping in surrounding of villages of Chikkandur in Sakleshpur taluk from last few days have created tension among the villagers.

The jumbos have destroyed coffee, pepper, cardamom, banana and other plants in the estate after straying out of forest.  Though the forest department personnel are camping in the area to drive back the jumbos into forests, they are still wandering in the area.
