'Development of J&K will suffer if MLAs indulge in squabbles'

"The developments in the J&K Assembly are unfortunate. After several years of peace process, we had hoped for consolidation. The J&K Assembly has the privilege of framing special laws, a right which is not available to many states," Azad told reporters outside Parliament.

Azad, a former Chief Minister of the state, said if MLAs indulge in squabbles, the development of the state will suffer as it was a "sensitive state".

Earlier, in the state Assembly, the Opposition PDP rejected the clean chit given by CBI to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the infamous 2006 sex scandal case and demanded a judicial probe into the issue.

Agitated PDP members led by their chief Mehbooba Mufti alleged that the CBI was trying to cover up the serious matter to save some bigwigs and tore a copy of the CBI letter giving clean chit to the Chief Minister
