Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, she said that the Government has invited opinion of the public after issuing gazette notification.

She alleged that attempts have been made to hide the gazette notification from the media, further the 1 month period fixed by the Government to collect public opinion ends on August 31 itself, which was not informed to public.

Hence, she said that people must oppose the move by writing to Corporation opposing the same in large numbers.

New rule

She said that according to the new rule, a person building house of about Rs 10 lakh in rural area will have to pay Rs 1.5 lakh as fees to Corporation.

Further, if the site on which the person plans to build the house is an agricultural land, then 15 per cent of the total building cost will have to be paid for conversion of land usage, she informed.

Accordingly fees has been fixed at 17 per cent of the building cost for industrial use, 18 per cent for commercial use and 8 per cent for other purposes.

She opined that this decision will be hard on pockets for common man.
Hence, the government must think twice before finalising the same.
She opined that the policy will only benefit the builders and contractors.
