Court defers hearing on Afridi's case against PCB

Last Updated 09 June 2011, 12:48 IST

Taffazul Rizvi, counsel for the PCB, submitted the board's reply to Afridi's petition against disciplinary proceedings in the Sindh High Court Thursday. The court had earlier stayed the proceedings of a three-man disciplinary panel which was to meet last Wednesday to discuss action against Afridi. The former pakistan captain had filed a petition challenging the sanctions imposed on him by the PCB.

Afridi's main objective behind seeking the court's help is to get his NOC to play for Hampshire in the English Twenty20 event - Friends ProT20. However, he will have to wait for another week before any progress is made.

The PCB had suspended Afridi's central contract and withdrawn the NOCs given to him for a T20 stint with Hampshire, and one for his participation in the upcoming Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) following Afridi's decision to retire without informing the PCB as well as for lashing out against the board's policies in his interviews to the media.
