Strauss was twice dismissed by left arm seamer Chanaka Walegedara in the Lord's Test. In the first innings, Strauss was out for 4 lbw by Walegedara and in the second innings he was out on a duck by the same bowler.

He was throughout troubled by left arm seamers in the series against Pakistan. In the four-Test series against Pakistan, four of his six dismissals came against Mohammad Aamer and a fifth by another left-armer Wahab Riaz.

Strauss has managed a single century against Australia in the drawn first Test in Brisbane last November in his past 33 innings. But his figures at home are worse. In six home Tests he has 179 runs from 10 innings.

"Andrew has made many runs in Test cricket and in the course of that he has faced a lot of left-arm over, right-arm round and other bowlers," Flower was quoted as saying in The Guardian.

"He has dealt with them all very skilfully.""I don't think he has a huge technical difficulty. If a left-arm over bowler gets you out twice in a row in one match, that's life. I thought the ball he got in the second innings was a superb one. I am not worried about it. But we all have to work on our games and on the different angles."

This is an area of concern as England will face India after the Sri Lanka series and the visitors' pace attack will be headed by left armer pacer Zaheer Khan.
