The minister who parked his official car at a distance, walked inside the office like a common man. As he approached a middleman who was sitting just in front of the office, the person without knowing the identity of Ramdas asked “what work do you want.. caste or income certificate.

Give money for quick works. If you pay money now you will get the certificate in one or two days”. His visit was planned because of complaints of rampant corruption. Ramdas was taken aback with the prevailing corruption in the taluk office.

He snatched away the file from the middleman to check from whom all the latter had collected money to issue caste/income certificates.

The minister came to know the advance money being collected by the middleman. Ramdas called a lady who had given to the middleman and told that her work was complete and asked for the remaining money.

Then she replied that already she had given Rs 200 for issuing income certificate and no balance was remaining. Likewise the minister called five persons and collected information how much money that the middleman had received from them. Seeing the minister in action, other middlemen took to their heels. All the income and caste certificates from their possession were seized.

The officer concerned was asked to file case against the middleman Puttaswamy Shetty and others.

From there, the minister directly went inside the taluk office and inspected the attendance register. He became furious as many employees had not signed in the register. The Shirastedhar was taken to task as C R Diwakar, one of the employees, had not signed the register since March.

Citizen’s charter

The citizen’s charter had been displayed on notice board. The minister asked tahsildhar Manjunathswamy that why the citizen charter is not being distributed to citizens.
When the tahsildar said that it has not been printed, Ramdas asked him to print them and compulsarily distribute to citizens.

Later, the minister went to the Nemmadi Centre near All India Radio and sought to know how the acknowledgement had reached the hands of middlemen.

The staff was taken to task. The citizens complained that although it was mandatory that they should original documents along with applications, the officials are insisting on submitting only applications for which they are forced to run from pillar to post.

The coordinator of the Nemmadi Kendra told the minister that they are facing shortage of the hologram and repeated plea to the authorities concerned to supply the same has not been met.

On the receipt of information, Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta also came to the spot and promised to take corrective steps.

Notice

Ramdas directed the shirasthedar to issue a show cause notice to C R Diwakar for not signing the attendance register.

Swamy from Doddamaranagowdanahalli complained that Mahes, an employee that he was not giving the Mutation Copy since last six months. The employee was summoned to the spot, taken to task and then directed the tahsildar to issue notice to him.

The minister was shocked to see the acknowledement and the holograms seized from the middlemen and took the Nemmadi Kendra and tahsildhar to task. Although, both officers claimed that they do not know how those acknowledgement and the holograms reached the middlmen, the minister asked the duo to inquire the issue.
