The couple developed differences of opinion after she gave birth to a baby boy. Vijay Kumar was upset with his wife as she would always listen to her mother’s advice. Jayamma was addicted to liquor, and spoke ill of Vijay Kumar often, added the police.

Vijay Kumar wanted to take his wife and son to his sister’s wedding last week. On her mother’s advice, Vijayalakshmi did not accompany her husband, causing Vijay Kumar acute embarrassment at the wedding.
Vijaya Kumar went to Jayamma’s house on Thursday around noon and squabbled with his wife over her absence at the wedding. He demanded that she return to his house along with their child. An inebriated Jayamma asked her daughter not to go with him.
Enraged, Vijayakumar took out a sharp-edged weapon and allegedly took a swipe at Vijayalakshmi. Jayamma came in the way and sustained injuries on her head and neck. Vijay Kumar fled, added the police.
Jayamma was taken to Nimhans where she died. The police are looking for Vijay Kumar, who was allegedly involved in crimes in Adugodi and Parappana Agrahara police limits.
