Varthur's remark draws condemnation

A joint statement by Zilla Panchayat member Naganala Somanna, Taluk Panchayat president Srinivas, former Zilla Panchayat member S B Munivekatappa and City Municipal Council member S Channaveeraiah has taken strong exception to the statement against Srinivasa Gowda.  People of the constituency have witnessed the development works taken up during the tenure of Srinivasa Gowda.

The people have accommodated Varthur Prakash with a view to ensure progress. But the voters are a frustrated lot as Varthur Prakash, after being elected has distanced himself from the electorate. His electoral assurances have remained as mere promises. No development work has been initiated in the constituency even after a lapse of one year of his election.

Reneging on promises

They said that the assurance Varthur Prakash to flowing Cauvery water to Kolar within six months has still remained unfulfilled. The roads in the constituency are in bad condition and drinking water scarcity is aggravating with each passing day, the statement said.

The revelation that Rs 100 crore has been released for Yaragol project is far from truth. The ground reality is that the government has not released not even a penny for the project. The fact that Varthur Prakash sought votes for K H Muniyappa in the Lok Sabha elections is well-known. However, he has claimed himself to be ‘neutral’ only with the intention of pacifying the BJP leaders.

The joint release said that the people of the constituency will teach a befitting lesson to Varthur Prakash, who, they said has failed to ensure development of the region and spending time in pointing fingers at the former minister.
